The Virtues
Project is
a not-for-profit programme sponsored by governments, corporations,
social service agencies, community organisations, schools and individuals
in over 85 countries. It was founded by Canadians Linda Kavelin Popov,
Dr Dan Popov and John Kavelin.
Its global value was recognised in 1993, during the International
Year of the Family, when the United Nations Secretariat and World
Conference of Cities & Corporations honoured The Virtues Project
as a model global programme for families of all cultures. It is now
at a point of widespread growth, with entire countries applying its
strategies. The Virtues Project has grown into a diverse, global,
grassroots network. With Virtues Project resources being either secular
or multicultural, the project's strategies are increasingly used in
secular society. The programme is also valued in many different Faith
communities.
The project's flexibility in implementation is one of its great strengths.
Hence, though the initial focus was on families, it is now used by
teachers, business people, individuals, and health workers in remarkably
creative ways. Though people can apply it to suit their own situations,
The Virtues Project easily retains its integrity and identity
as a leading movement in the field of practical ethics and character
development world wide. |
